Hornbeam Charcoal
We are proud to offer this superb charcoal made from timber sourced from Natural England SSSI protected woodlands in Essex and Hertfordshire produced by the ever spelling fire Wizard himself in his Cambridgeshire yard.
Each piece of charcoal is observed as it is graded and drops into the Stag bags to ensure it is absolutely on point and as good as it gets. Lump sizes vary but meticulous grading ensures that only the best sizes make it into the bag. No brown charcoal here - Matt makes sure of that!
Hornbeam is a super rare charcoal that delivers a long consistent burn perfect for cooking on all barbecues and charcoal grills. We have had this go for 28-hours at 110 degrees on a Kamado - how good is that!

*The purchase of each bag of British charcoal secures our forests, woodlands and the beasts that live within for future generations. We do this together, one bag at a time.Unnecessary charcoal imports are damaging tropical ecosystems and polluting the planet, not to mention the humanitarian impacts in some territories. We need to burn British!

Origins & Production
Origins & Production
Stag Charcoal works in partnership with Abington Sawmill in Cambridgeshire and local woodland owners to source timber suitable for making into the finest British charcoal. The name "Stag" was chosen because traditionally the stag has been the “King” of the forest and our guiding values and ethos are that British Charcoal is the "King" of all charcoals and the best you can cook with! One of the very best global charcoal makers and we are so lucky to have them on our isle.
